My Favorite Movies

It was halloween recently, and in the halloween spirit I ended up watching two horror movies (neither by choice). The first was called Halloween and is an all-time classic. It stars michael myers as he prances around the ville up to no good. I wasn't so invested in this movie as it was on in the background at my friends house as we prepared for our nighttime shenanigans.

The second film was called Malignant. This movie was horribly gruesome and gratuitously gory. I had arrived at another friends house the following night with my tupperware of chicken and white rolls (I hadn't eaten dinner yet) and everyone was sitting down to watch this movie. Not only was it too violent for my liking, as many horror movies are, but I also found it to be incredibly cliche. As a matter of fact, within 20 minutes of the film, I predicted the entire plot, much to my fellow movie watchers dismay, as they would have preferred silent movie watching.

Movies movies movies. And more! When I had surgery over the summer, I was down for the count for a few months. In this time, I watched several cult classic early 2000s and 1990s Chinese and Japanese films, such as Raise the Red Lantern, Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon, Ran, Memoirs of a Geisha (adapted from the book, Memoirs of a Geisha), Hero, and the Last Emperor. I have yet to see Farewell my Concubine, but it is on my list! I quite enjoyed these movies, they felt more dignified than their american counter parts. More patient, cinematic, beautiful and of course more traditional.
